Today was our Mommy and Me class. We planted strawberries in our garden and planted seeds in Terracotta pots with our friends. After planting, the kids just had a fun time digging in the square foot garden we hadn't planted in yet. I will have the rest of the fun activities on my Mommy and Me blog later in the week.
This looks so pleasant :) I have a question... How much did they fight? No seriously, do the younger ones fight much while gardening? You know, some may not want to share the tools, take turns watering plants, etc. The reason I ask is because I'm thinking about starting a local children's community garden, but I need to know what might end up being a problem so that we can avoid it before it happens. Any suggestions you have would be great. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat question, Mariah! We didn't have any fighting, but I had made sure that each child had his/her own strawberry plant, own spade and then we had two watering cans that we took turns with. I think that the 5 kids in the one square foot garden was a good number as well. And we had a one to one ratio adult to kid. (which I think is probably important for 3 and 4 year olds and less important for school age kids).
